Are you an aspiring poet? Would you like more confidence with reading your poems aloud onstage? Are you looking for tips & advice on how to better your performance and where to use it afterwards? Well, we can help you! Sundown Arts has 10 years experience of writing and performing poetry/spoken word at many different top venues, including those in London and festival performances. Poets Jo Overfield & Ray Morgan have performed at: Latitude Festival, Colin Murray’s Radio 1 show, The Vibe Bar, Union Chapel, Whitechapel Art Gallery, The Spitz, Norwich Arts Centre, Colchester Arts Centre, Leigh Folk Festival, and many more.
We will give you help and advice with your poetry performance, introduce you to performances from some of the most successful stand-up poets on the scene today. We’ll look at rhythm, emphasis, description, dramatic pause, timing, movement and then we’ll put this into practice by the end of the day. Hopefully you’ll come away with a new approach on how to read your poetry aloud, how to perform your poetry to an audience, how to use an audience. We’ve worked with many top poets such as John Hegley, Luke Wright, Kate Tempest, Laura Dockrill, Rachel Pantechnicon, Tim Clare, and so many others.
We’ll also give you advice on where to go to perform your poetry, who to contact, what type of organisations/venues to approach to move further with your performance poetry career. With our contacts and experience, we can help and support you through your performance poetry development.
